What we collect
We do not ask you to create an account and we do not sell anything directly, so we collect no payment information and no account details. If you email us, we hold that email in order to reply to it.
The VIN decoder
When you decode a VIN on this site, your browser sends that VIN directly to the NHTSA vPIC service, a free public database operated by the U.S. Department of Transportation, and displays what it returns. The VIN is not sent to us, and we do not log or store it. Requests to that service are governed by NHTSA's own policies.
Affiliate links and cookies
When you click a link to a retailer, that retailer or its affiliate network may place a cookie in your browser so any resulting purchase is credited to this site. Those cookies are set by the retailer and the network, not by us, and they are governed by those companies' privacy policies. You can block or clear them in your browser at any time.
Analytics
We may use privacy respecting analytics to count page views and understand which guides are useful. Where used, that data is aggregated and is not used to identify individual visitors.
Third party sites
Links on this site lead to retailers we do not control. Their handling of your information is governed by their own policies, which are worth reading before you buy.
